  1. Wash your windows with vinegar and water. Ammonia can hurt your eyes and lungs, and burn your skin. Mix half of a spray bottle with distilled white or apple-cider vinegar and fill the other half with water. Spray on your windows and wipe with a soft cloth for a nice shine that will be free of streaks.
  2. Use cozy, all-natural cotton flannel sheets on your bed. Do not use polyester sheets which have more than likely been treated with formaldehyde. When you are exposed to formaldehyde it may irritate your skin and cause respiratory problems.
  3. Install a carbon monoxide detector in your home.
  4. Use sweet sachets instead of toxic moth balls. Mothballs are made from 100% par dichlorobenzene, a powerful toxin that can cause headaches or an itchy nose and throat. Over time, it can hurt your liver and kidneys. Mothballs look and smell like candy, so watch that your kids do not eat them. Keep your wool clothes free from the toxins in moth balls–make sachets from dried lavender, dried rosemary and mint, or whole peppercorns.

Candida Diet: Guidelines to Follow

Candida overgrowth is a very common problem right now mostly due to the Standard American Diet which is based on grains and refined sugars. Antibiotics can also contribute to the overgrowth.

Candida is a yeast that occurs naturally in our intestines, it thrives on sugary – flour based foods and it can get out of control quickly. This causes a multitude of underlying problems that can affect our everyday lives with out you even knowing it. It can contribute to poor nutrient absorption, bloating, and unhealthy waste elimination.

Candida overgrowth can cause or contribute to:

(3) Increase your intake of essential oils, especially omega-3 oils. These include: Fish oils, and oily fish, like salmon, mackerel, tuna-in-oil, sardines-in-oil, etc.; Flax-seed oil, one tablespoon or three capsules twice daily. Avocadoes, nuts, olives and olive-oil, canola and other vegetable oils are mostly omega-6, which are also good but not as lacking in our diets. Primrose or Borage oil is good too. Any of these oils can be used as a substitute for canola or olive oil, on breads and salads.
(4) Avoid antibiotics and cortisone-type prescriptions if at all possible.

Enjoy these foods also; Onions and garlic, fresh vegetables and their juices (beware of carrot juice it contains a lot of sugar)rice cakes, oat cakes (unmalted), butter, yogurt, cottage cheese, (no other dairy). Herbs, mild spices, freshly cracked nuts, seeds, fresh water, fruit and herb teas cold pressed oils brown rice and flours, use for cakes and pastry etc. oats (oatmeal makes an excellent breakfast , make with water and serve with nuts, seeds and yogurt. Meats, unprocessed and preferably organic or free-range. Fish, preferably unprocessed and wild, oily fish is best! Eggs, lentils, peas and beans.

Eat 2/3 of your daily intake in the form of nutritious healthy salads. Add a bit of fish or chicken as you like. Remember to stick to the guidelines above. Use salad dressings that you can make yourself that have unfiltered apple cider vinegar. You can make the Good seasons dressing (which can be purchased at any grocery store) Italian dressing, this way you can add your own oil (olive oil) and the vinegar. This vinegar is very good for you and has many therapeutic properties.

You can add a teaspoon of fresh ground flax (grind it yourself with a coffee grinder everyday right before you use it for best results) to your salads. Flax is very good for your digestion and will help balance your body.

Turmeric is a wonderful spice that you can add to salads and chicken. Look around your life and see what inspires you or brings you down. Evaluate how you perceive your world.The mind is an extremely powerful tool. People who have had to endure extraordinarily difficult lives have risen above circumstance, taken control of their minds, and were happy inside regardless of outer circumstance. You can do this, and it does not require you to change anything in your life (career, mate, lifestyle, etc). It only requires that you change your attitude and approach towards living.

To have great days, realize that no matter what happens, you can control how you respond. If you make the decision to dealwith all the events in your life, big or small, traumatic or trivial,devastating or disappointing, in a positive way, you will be stronger emotionally. Pain is inevitable; suffering is optional. Decide that you are going to be joyful in all situations. Keep your hands on the steering wheel of your life.

See change as an adventure. One of the key ways to generate motivation from within is to believe that you can win by choosing what you can do right now. Eat more healthy foods containing fiber, take a high-potency multi-vitamin, maintain a muscle-building/fat-burning exercise regime. But don’t force yourself to change too much, too soon. Creating a life of increased sustainable energy requires developing a lifestyle that nurtures and enhances vital energy overtime. See each day as an opportunity to give yourself a fresh beginning. Show appreciation to your child when he or she gets a good grade on a paper. Be willing to listen to someone even if you are not that interested. Before bed, do a yoga stretch in your pajamas. A simple spinal twist can help you get a better night’s sleep. It alleviates tension built up in your lower back during the day. Sitting on your bed with legs crossed, place your right hand down on the bed behind you and rest your left hand on your right knee. Sit up straight and inhale, lengthening your spine as you breathe. On your exhale, begin to twist toward your right hand. Hold this position, lengthening your spine on the inhales and deepening your twist on the exhales. Repeat on opposite side.
